Stop Applauding the Doctor. Start Taking the Prescription.
Why knowing what to do isn’t enough — and how tiny daily actions can change your life.
Have you ever gone to the doctor, listened carefully to everything they said... and then totally ignored their advice when you got home?
It sounds silly, but we do it all the time — especially when it comes to self-help books, podcasts, and advice from experts.
We celebrate the doctor.
We admire the advice.
But we ignore the prescription.
It’s fun to listen to a podcast about better sleep, focus, and habits. It feels like we’re getting better just by hearing it. But unless we act on that advice, nothing really changes.
Take Andrew Huberman. He’s one of the most popular voices today on health and brain science.
One of the simplest things he teaches?
Get sunlight in your eyes early in the morning.
It’s one of the best things you can do for your brain, your energy, your sleep, and your mood.
Millions of people know this tip.
But how many people actually go outside for morning sunlight every single day?
Not many.
Knowing isn’t doing.
I’ll share a small example from my own life.
Since 2019, I’ve walked 10,000 steps every day.
No fancy gear. No perfect plan. Just walking — rain or shine, busy or free, feeling great or feeling tired.
It started with simple advice I heard once: daily movement is powerful.
Instead of just admiring the idea, I made it part of my life.
That one small action, done every day, has changed my energy, focus, and even my mindset.
Knowledge is everywhere today. We are swimming in it.
But action? Action is rare.
We can either be librarians of wisdom — collecting books, tips, and podcasts and feeling smart…
Or we can be warriors of wisdom — living the advice, step by step, day by day.
The world doesn’t need more people who know what to do.
More people are needed to do what they know.
“If more information was the answer, we’d all be billionaires with perfect abs.” — Derek Sivers
The real magic happens when you stop celebrating the doctor... and start taking the prescription.
