From Software Engineering to Yoga—A Journey of Reinvention and Purpose
Embracing Change: The Story of Anusha’s Transformation
Whenever I meet people who feel stuck in their careers, I share my wife’s story with them.
Anusha started her career as a software engineer with a degree in computer science. After five years, she boldly decided to take a break and be a full-time mom. She chose a new path when she was ready to return to work. She earned a diploma in nutrition and helped hundreds of people improve their health.

In 2015, we moved to the U.S. Without a clear career direction, she started volunteering at our son’s school. She wanted to meet people, build connections, and find her place in California. While exploring ways to channel her energy, she discovered yoga.
Then, an opportunity appeared. She became a paraeducator at an elementary school and started teaching yoga to kids with special needs. The impact was incredible. Even small doses of yoga transformed their focus, confidence, and well-being. That’s when she found her true calling.

Determined to pursue this path, Anusha spent two years earning her yoga teacher certification. Since 2021, she has taught over 1,000 hours of yoga. Today, she is a full-time yoga teacher, PR manager at Yoga Bharati (a non-profit), and runs her own courses and programs.

Reinvention is always possible. You have to take the first step.
If Anusha can do it, you can too.
Seven lessons we can all learn from her:
Be open to learning new things.
Don’t be attached to identities.
Be willing to experiment.
Build a social network.
Ask for help from others.
Play the long game.
Have fun!
She’s hosting a free lightning session on Maven in March. You can register for this 45-minute session on Yoga for Wellness.
